It happens every time there’s a Bloggy Giveaway. I enter as many as I can, and as many as appeal to me, and I get a bunch of new visitors to the blog, a few of whom stay around and leave neat comments. I know that there are thousands of participants in these things, and my own giveaway evinces the odds against winning anything. Yet, when I don’t win, I feel a little ripped off.
In the midst of that emotion, I am always so gratified when I get the response e-mails from the winners of my giveaway. The last time, three of the four winners responded back with “Oh, Cool! I never win anything.” I am reminded that they were anticipating winning something . . . anything . . . just as much as I was.
It’s why I participate, and it reminds me that it’s not all about me. Chant it with me . . . it is better to giveaway than to receive . . .
