So I’ve changed the blog template, and I’m wondering what you think.  Do you like the other one better?  Neither?  Let me know.

The Color Pink

Rich Mullins once wrote a worship song about the color green. It includes the lines:

Look down upon this winter wheat and be glad that You have made
Blue for the sky and the color green that fills these fields with praise

I’ve always loved the idea of color being an expression of praise, and I’ve heard the praise of the color green.

Pink, however, has always seemed to me to be the furthest color from praise.

For some reason, green has seemed an intelligent color, while pink (even before the movie Legally Blond) has seemed ditzy. Green has always felt deep and enveloping, while pink has felt shallow. Green has felt natural, while pink has felt artificial.

But as with so many other things in my life, my perspective on color has shifted since the arrival of my mac.  Both Jonathan and I will pick pink over most other colors when dressing her.  The color pink has come to represent the beautiful gift that the Lord has given us.  It’s as if we keep wrapping her in pink wrapping paper.  It’s no longer shallow or artificial, it’s feminine and soft and beautiful – just like our mac.

Now, when I see pink, I think “look down upon this family and be glad that you have made, mac for our lives and the color pink, that fills my heart with praise.”
